Student Chapters
CRR now has three thriving student chapters, Portland State University, Oregon State University and, our newest, at the University of Oregon. The chapters are sponsord by faculty in the Geography or GeoSciences Departments, with students holding the officer positions. Each has a budget provided by the Region to finance scholarships, speakers, and other events.
The region finances scholarships, speakers, and other events. Oregon State's chapter is headed by Michael Wing of the Forest Engineering Department. Joe Poracsky is PSU's professor of cartography and urban forestry, and advisor to the student chapter. U of O's chapter is sponsored by Amy Lobben of the Geography department.

Oregon Survey Law Revision - Update 12/21/06
Oregon Survey Law and Licensing for Photogrammetrists
Applications for Photogrammetry by Prior Practice
Summary
Senate Bill 55, which revised the existing survey statute to more clearly define which survey and mapping practices require professional registration, was passed into law during the 2005 legislative session. The new law clarifies the definition of surveying with regards to GIS practices and also establishes a new license for Professional Photogrammetrists.
As of January 1, 2006, an individual practicing or offering to practice professional photogrammetric mapping or related remote sensing services (such as LiDAR) must be registered/licensed with the State as a Professional Surveyor, Professional Engineer or Professional Photogrammetrist. There is a two-year grandfathering period for existing practitioners to make an application for a license without taking the fundamentals or professional examination, as long as they meet the requirements outlined in the law. After January 1, 2008 all new applicants will need to pass both the Fundamentals of Surveying exam and a written Professional Photogrammetry exam.
The Professional Photogrammetrist license will be limited to mapping tasks using photogrammetry and remote sensing technologies and will not include setting new ground control, establishing boundaries or other survey work beyond the scope of photogrammetric mapping and remote sensing.
