US-National Phenology Network outline
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to invite faculty, graduate and undergraduate students to present their research at the Southwest US Region, American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing symposium (5 October, 2007 in Tucson, Arizona)1. This symposium is held to highlight and celebrate the recent establishment of the National Phenological Network (NPN; http://usanpn.org/) coordinating office at the University of Arizona, and will offer researchers the opportunity to learn about and explore the science of phenology. The remote sensing component of the National Phenology Network is critical for providing a means of scaling from on-the-ground observations of phenology to the ecosystem level and, ultimately, to wall-to-wall estimates of phenology covering the entire country. For this symposium, the presentation and poster sessions will convene around 4 themes in remotely sensed phenology: Fire, Drought and Phenology; Phenological Metrics and Visualization; Phenology and Scale: From Plants to Landscapes; Characterizing the Phenology of Diverse Landscapes
