National Director

The Columbia River Region is proud to announce that Chris Aldridge has been re-elected to serve another 3 year term as National Director of the Columbia River Region of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

Chris Aldridge is a Certified Photogrammetrist (ASPRS R1063) and Registered Professional Photogrammetrist with 27 years of experience in all aspects of photogrammetry.  He has been living and working in the Pacific Northwest since joining Spencer B. Gross, Inc. in 1992.  After serving as the Vice President and General Manger of SBG, Inc. (later i-TEN), Mr. Aldridge joined Continental Mapping Consultants in 2009.  He has been active in the Columbia River Region since 1997, and is the current National Director from the CRR.   At the national level he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board, the Chairman of the Bylaws Committee, an a member of several other operating committees(Membership, Standards, the PPD).  He has presented at the local and national level, chaired the regional GIS in Action conference twice, and remains active in that events steering committee. He is also an active member of the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon, and the Society of American Military Engineers.   He is a recognized authority in the field of photogrammetry, having preformed and managed all aspects of photogrammetry production including project management, flight and project planning, AT, stereo compilation, orthophoto generation, dark room procedures, and LiDAR.

Welcomes our new vice president, Matt Boyd

Matthew Boyd is a co-owner of Watershed Sciences, Inc. (WSI) where he oversees LiDAR acquisition and associated feature extraction, research and development.  He is a hydrologist by training and received Masters Degrees at Oregon State University in Civil Engineering and Bioengineering.  He contributed to EPA funded research and restoration related projects for six years throughout the Pacific Northwest before joining Watershed Sciences in 2003.  He developed the Heat Source to model physical and thermal salmonid habitat using remotely sensed thermal and LiDAR data as model inputs.  He has also lead, collaborated and contributed to various projects employing the ACOE suite of HEC models and CE-QUAL-W2.  Since joining WSI, Mr. Boyd has developed the LiDAR program which has grown to 4 systems employed throughout North America.  He is responsible for the "survey grade" high resolution LiDAR specification that has become the standard in the PNW.  Mr. Boyd is currently developing software called LiDAR Feature Extraction (LFEx) for characterizing buildings, vegetation, roads and normalizing intensity imagery from discrete and wave form LiDAR point data.
