The Pecora Conference series was established by the U.S. Geological Survey and NASA in the 1970s as a means of sharing ideas and experiences
resulting from the use of remotely sensed data. The objectives of the Pecora Conferences are 1) to foster the exchange of scientific information,
resource management conclusions, and results of other practical applications derived from the use of land remotely sensed data; and 2) to
provide a forum for discussing ideas, policies, and strategies on land remote sensing. This
year, NOAA, BAE Systems, USDA Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS), SAIC, FGDC, and DOE, join the USGS and NASA in sponsoring Pecora 16.
ASPRS is co-organizing the conference on behalf of the sponsors.
This conference on “Global Priorities in Land Remote Sensing” will offer a program that honors the Pecora
Conference tradition of focusing on applications of satellite and other remotely sensed data to study, monitor, and manage
the Earth’s land surface and its natural resources while at the same time recognizing other important priorities related to
effectively applying the science and technology of land remote sensing and to ensuring its stable future. The conference
organizers will present an exciting program of interest to remote sensing applications scientists with diverse disciplinary
backgrounds, as well as to many other remote sensing professionals and program managers.
Participation
Be a part of one of 2005’s most exciting conferences in your profession.
We encourage land remote sensing data users, researchers, applications scientists, producers, managers, and policy-makers to attend. Submit an abstract for a paper, poster, or technology demonstration. Participate in general and technical sessions, exhibits, and educational workshops on the very latest remote sensing research, applications, analysis techniques, and technologies. Enjoy the opportunity to make new friends and get reacquainted with old ones.
Organization
The Pecora 16 Conference will be held from Sunday through Thursday, October 23 to 27, 2005. Scheduled are General Sessions and corresponding technical sessions in the five topical areas, exhibits, and educational workshops. The primary conference will be held at the Sioux Falls Convention Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
