In response to a recent ASPRS Board of Directors vote to complete payment of the second trust on the ASPRS headquarters, payment in full was made on November 8, 1999. ASPRS Executive Director James Plasker noted, “Clearly this is a significant milestone on our road to financial recovery. All of the Society leadership is to be commended for reaching this goal, some 23 months prior to when it was due. In particular, ASPRS President Michael Renslow is to be commended for developing the overall financial strategy that has allowed us to make this move.” The outstanding results from both the 1998 and 1999 ASPRS Annual Conferences were also credited for helping the Society make the payoff in such a timely manner. Plasker also recognized the ASPRS staff who worked hard to shepherd the finances in a manner which supported the Board’s goals. The Board, in making this decision, anticipates a renewed effort to retire the first mortgage throughvoluntary contributions to the Building Fund.
