GeoBC, Crown Registry and Geographic Base Branch
The Crown Registry and Geographic Base (CRGB) branch is responsible
for acquiring, managing, enabling access to and supporting
the interpretation and use of the foundational data upon which
GeoBC information products and services are built and delivered.
These foundation data are also used to geographically reference
and index other resource, social, and economic values and assets
for analysis and decision making by clients, stakeholders and the
general public. CRGB is organized around the delivery, management
and support of four distinct business lines:
1. Geospatial Reference Services
The Geospatial Reference (GSR) group defi nes and manages
the geographic coordinate system that underlies all support
surveying, mapping and georeferencing activities.
2. GeoBC Atlas Services
The GeoBC Atlas Services is a program to provide a common
digital framework for the various land information retrieval
systems by using a common standards and specifi cations for
data capture. Programs and initiatives of the GeoBC Atlas include
the provincial base-mapping program (digital 1:20,000
base mapping suite); geographical names; digital road atlas,
freshwater atlas and the provincial orthophoto production
program.

Land Records Services is responsible for recording and managing
information regarding the nature, ownership, extent,
and location of rights and interests in Crown land. This group
provides land record services, which include:
