Categories of ASPRS Individual Membership

Active Membership

An active member shall be a person who is involved in the practice of photogrammetry, remote sensing and/or geographic information systems and related sciences; or by reason of education or profession, is interested in the application or development of these arts and sciences. An Active member has the right to vote and hold office.
 

Associate Membership

An Associate Member shall have been a student for at least one year but is no longer eligible for student membership  status.  Associate Members shall pay dues that are approximately two-thirds of the full member dues and shall be eligible for this membership for a period of no more than three years immediately following their time as a student  member.  Associate Members shall be entitled to the same rights and privileges of the Society as an Active Member
 

Student Membership

A Student Member shall be working towards a degree at a university or college. Certification of student status (examples may include copies of student identification or current registration, faculty or sponsor signature, etc) is required for each year of student membership. A person is not eligible for student membership if he/she has previously held an Active or Associate Member status. Student members do not vote or hold office until they advance to Associate Membership.

ASPRS Technical Divisions

The ASPRS Divisions organize and direct the Society's technical, scientific and professional activities. Members are encouraged to participate in as many Divisions in which they have an interest. The Divisions are:
  • Geographic Information Systems - provides a forum for idea exchange and use of geographic information systems and its rapid technological changes and applications.
  • Photogrammetric Applications - promotes the widespread use and understanding of photogrammetry and its various applications.
  • Primary Data Acquisition- promotes the understanding of performance characteristics, standards and quality of platforms, sensors, data processing procedures and products associated with photogrammetry and remote sensing.
  • Professional Practice - promotes professional activities such as ethics, business practices, qualifications, certification, government affairs, job classification systems, standards and specifications.
  • Remote Sensing Applications - promotes the use and understanding of remote sensing technology, data analysis procedures and applications.
