This archive contains materials related to the multi-organization Task
Force (MOTF) on the Model Law on Surveying and various reference materials
published by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying
(NCEES). Caution--Not all material included below is a product of
the MOTF, but all of it relates to the work of the MOTF.
The number in the left column is the year and month the material was first
released. Documents are listed in reverse chronological order.

reflect the input of the MOTF and represent significant milestones

The above links lead to the draft preliminary report of an NCEES task
force that deliberated issues raised by the two reports of the multi-organization
task force issued in 1997 and 2000 and
related concerns voiced by various state boards. The NCEES task
force operated during 2001-2002, and their report is being briefed to
the four NCEES Zones during spring 2002 and will be considered by the
Council during their summer 2002 meetings.

Draft Guidelines on GIS/LIS
This document is currently under consideration by the North Carolina
Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. It is designed
to guide decisions concerning when the use of GIS/LIS technology constitutes
the practice of surveying under North Carolina law.
