Lidar datasets of Merrill Field Airport
in Anchorage, Alaska. These
dense, highly accurate 3D models
are generated from data collected
by two Optech lidar solutions:
the ALTM Airborne Laser
Terrain Mapper, and the ILRIS-36D
laser scanner. Large-scale coverage
is obtained by ALTM, which
operates from a helicopter or airplane
at altitudes ranging from 80
m to 3,500 m. Datasets produced
by ALTM feature vertical accuracies
as high as 5 cm. Close-range coverage is obtained by the tripod-mounted
ILRIS-36D scanner, which features a dynamic scanning range of 3 m to
beyond 1 km. With modelling accuracies as high as 3 mm, ILRIS-36D captures
the fine details quickly, safely and accurately. The data collected by
these systems stands on its own, but can also be combined in post-processing
to produce incredibly high-resolution, dimensionally accurate 3D models.

The effectiveness of inadequate representation of surfaces
by grids and random errors in elevations to
cause artifact depressions in digital elevation models
of a range of landscape types is quantified.
The performance of MIRIS as a tool for estimating
Chlorophyll-a concentrations in freshwater evaluated
using simulated and measured Top of Atmosphere
radiances and high-resolution ground truth data.
AVHRR NDVI Response to Precipitation in the northern
and central Great Plains was evaluated using statistical
time series models that account for time lag and
seasonality effects.
A new Strategy for developing cloud-free satellite
image mosaics over persistently cloudy regions enables
fast urban change detection in a tropical landscape.
