Osborn and Wolf Memorial Scholarship
Winners Announced by ASPRS

Sean Bolender was selected to receive the 2006 Kenneth J. Osborn Memorial Scholarship and Jamon Van Den Hoek was awarded the Paul R. Wolf Memorial Scholarship. These awards were presented this month at the ASPRS Annual Conference in Reno, Nevada.

Bolender is completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatics at the University of Alaska at Anchorage.  His areas of specialization include geodesy and photogrammetry. Following his graduation this year, he plans to continue his employment with the Division of Cadastral Surveys with the U. S. Bureau of Land Management.   

The Kenneth J. Osborn Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and commend undergraduate college or university students in the United States who display exceptional interest, desire, ability, and aptitude to enter the profession of surveying, mapping, photogrammetry, or geospatial information and technology.  This annual scholarship consists of a plaque and a check in the amount of $500.  This award is administered by the ASPRS Foundation and funds are distributed from monies donated by the friends and colleagues of Kenneth J. Osborn. 

Jamon Van Den Hoek was awarded the 2006 Paul R. Wolf Memorial Scholarship.  Van Den Hoek is currently a PhD candidate with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  He was presented with this award in recognition of his outstanding academic credentials and his plans to become an education professional in surveying, mapping and photogrammetry. 

The Paul R. Wolf Memorial Scholarship was inaugurated in 2003.  The purpose of the award is to encourage and commend college students who display exception interest, desire, ability and aptitude to enter the profession of teaching surveying, mapping or photogrammetry.  The annual scholarship consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $500.  This award is administered by the ASPRS Foundation and funds are distributed from monies donated by the friends and colleagues of Paul R. Wolf.
