RSGS Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform processing of lidar data including calibration, georeferencing, automated filtering, manual editing to produce classified LAS point clouds in compliance with ASPRS Best Practices and USGS Lidar Base Specifications.
  • Perform georeferencing of digital aerial imagery, including both aerotriangulation and/or SFM methods in compliance with ASPRS Best Practices.
  • Perform orthorectification of digital imagery, including color balancing and seamline editing, and image finishing.
  • Perform stereo compilation of manmade features and terrain breaklines to produce 3D CAD data and DTMs.
  • Produce derivative mapping products, including hydroflattened DEMs, DSMs, contours and Civil3D/LandXML terrain models.
  • Perform quantitative accuracy assessment and qualitative QC of lidar and photogrammetrically-derived data products according to ASPRS Positional Accuracy Standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering departments to streamline import of lidar and photogrammetrically-derived data products into Civil3D, PVCase, PLS-CADD and other engineering software packages.
  • Collaborate with survey department to ensure compliance of field survey ground and checkpoint data with ASPRS Best Practices.
  • Collaborate across departments to provide technical guidance on the use of RSGS data in GIS applications.
  • Support RSGS SME in development of enhanced products and services for RRC renewable energy clients, including automated feature extraction, volume calculations, vegetation analysis, etc.
  • Support RSGS SME in development of in-house drone-based mapping capabilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Geospatial Science, Geography, or a related field (required).
  • Professional certifications preferred
  • ASPRS Certified Mapping Technologist – Lidar or Certified Photogrammetric Technologist, with 2-3 years of Esri ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD experience.
  • 5+ years of general geospatial experience, with 3 years of experience working in with aerial survey data (imagery and lidar) either in data processing or as a user of aerial survey data in CAD environment.
  • Experience in lidar data collection, processing, and analysis.
  • Experience with drone/UAV-based data acquisition and integration
  • Ability to design and implement geospatial solutions that support engineering and infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing geospatial or remote sensing teams and leading projects.
  • Experience working with civil engineering projects and integrating geospatial data into engineering workflows.
  • Track record of innovation and implementing new technologies or methods in geospatial services.
  • Proficiency with photogrammetric data data processing and mapping and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, Global Mapper, Summit Evolution, GeoCue LP360, Pix4D).
