ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWF-
WMD) has selected
Dewberry
, a privately held professional
services firm, to collect and process lidar topographic mapping
data at a minimum of eight points per square meter for Pasco
County, Florida.
The firm is providing geospatial technology services that
will deliver products to assess, monitor, analyze, and man-
age water quality, water distribution, and flood control, and
support future needs for the county. Additionally, Dewberry
is collecting ground control data, creating digital elevation
models, and delineating building footprints and impervious
features to support SWFWMD and Pasco County. Lidar data
acquisition was completed in January 2018.
“For the past decade, we’ve worked with water management
districts in Florida to provide up-to-date lidar data and geo-
spatial mapping services,” said Dewberry Associate Vice Pres-
ident Amar Nayegandhi, CP, CMS, GISP. “We are excited to
continue to support SWFWMD, and extend our data collection
and production services from Hillsborough County to Pasco
County.”

Teledyne Optech
is pleased to announce
that Mr. Martin Flood has joined the compa-
ny as Director of Business Development. In
this global role, Mr. Flood will concentrate
on expanding the reach of the Teledyne
Optech product portfolio to new markets,
and will identify and oversee the execution
of new business opportunities.
Mr. Flood started his career at Optech as
a Project Scientist in 1991 and led the team that produced the
first Airborne Lidar Terrain Mapping (ALTM) sensors. After
leaving in 1997 and working for several mapping service com-
panies, he joined the GeoCue Group as Business Development
Manager in 2005. A major focus of his work was identifying
new and emerging markets for lidar-related mapping services
and helping customers adopt established best practices for
new business models.
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Martin back to Tele-
dyne Optech,” said Michel Stanier, EVP and General Manager
of Teledyne Optech. “In the mid-90’s, Martin led the creation
of the ALTM team. Since then Martin has been actively in-
volved in the industry, first as a service provider, then as a
solutions provider.”
“I am excited to be taking on the role of Director of Business
Development for Teledyne Optech because of the enormous
potential I see for lidar and imaging technology across numer-
ous industries,” said Mr. Flood.

EVENTS
NASA Applied Remote Sensing Training Program - Monitoring
Urban Floods Using Remote Sensing. Wednesdays from
July 25th to August 1st. According to the UNDP, by 2050
two thirds of the world’s population is likely to live in cities.
Urban flooding is already a major risk for cities. Increasing
impervious surface area, inadequate storm water drainage,
and aging infrastructure all contribute. As a result, growing
urban populations will face a greater risk of flooding from
extreme weather events. This webinar series will focus on the
components of urban flooding that satellite data can track,
including: extreme precipitation, flooding, and waterlogged
and ponded surfaces. For more information or to register, visit
