UAS Division Announcements
The
Unmanned-Autonomous-Systems-Division (UASD) serves the ASPRS members as a
resource for high accuracy mapping practices, industry insights, and emerging
standards. The UASD includes unmanned autonomous systems (broadly defined,
including robotics) and related technologies, including platforms, sensors,
communications, algorithms, and derived information, among others. As a
technical division of ASPRS, the UASD mission is to advance and promote the
responsible applications of the mapping sciences.
-
Outreach- to expand UAS
capabilities awareness and to grow and support the vision of ASPRS. We do this by engaging
the ASPRS members and the mapping community on emerging UAS technology,
techniques, education, standards, and professional opportunities.Education- to promote a tiered UAS
mapping training program to promote successful UAS mapping operations and data
delivery. Education programs should also
assist professionals in preparing and obtaining their ASPRS certification and
professional certification credits.
UAS Division meeting announcements are sent in the ASPRS newsletter
Goals (2020-2022):
- Increase awareness in UAS capabilities, education opportunities, and standardization efforts. Provide a technological resource for other divisions and committees of ASPRS.
- Develop and deliver the first round of online High Accuracy UAS Mapping Classes designed to promote professional UAS mapping standards
- Establish the UAS Education Committee to identify, schedule and promote tiered online education content in an effort to promote proven UAS mapping practices and data accuracy standards.
